Digging, yes an idiots guide will definitely be published along with the pack, and should be very simple to set up as I'm going to put it through a launcher. This means you only need to download the launcher and choose our pack, then connect to the server like normal. Should be very user friendly:) Also the pack definitely needs some adding to, I agree. Also for variety I will prolly add thaumcraft, which is a familiar magic mod that everyone seems to enjoy. I was also thinking of taking out the aether and replacing it with something cooler. thaumcraft would be nice for those interested in it BUT I would suggest making the one purple biomes to where they don't spread. Not an easy way to contain the biome unless you are heavily into thaumcraft. I don't want my base destroyed cause some stupid purple stuff.

Ok so Digging suggested dense ores, that looks amazing. It is not what i thought it was originally and would definitely love to have it in the pack. Also I do like some of the mods Nabbs suggested, and will try to fit in at least a couple of them. And yes jman, taint will not be able to spread. The main thing with adding mods is that we will need to take some away, as the server will be a cheaper one (10-15 dollars a month), as this is all I can afford at the moment. I need to see about creating a pack on a launcher, as i think it is quite a process, but ill figure it out. Also im going to try to have a tentative mod list up within a few days. Just bear with me while I figure everything out, as I am a noob at server hosting:P

Have always wanted to experiment with modded Minecraft but never had the computer to do it. Until now. I'm 100% in. In regards to what we use wouldn't a pack like Feed the Beast be much easier to install and get working as opposed to picking a choosing individual mods?

Perhaps, but a customised mod pack is more interesting.

Using a pre picked pack is like buying a microwave meal it works but it's dull! Picking your own lets you choose what you like in your pack and those u don't and make it taste soooooo much better! Once it's in the dish it's as easy to install as any other pack it's just getting the pack right is the tricky bit!

I've become mod illiterate since it started requiring forge etc, I miss the old %appdata% days, deleting META-INF (I think thats what it was called) and going from there. I think a well made modded server will provide exactly what I'm looking for to get back into Minecraft. Is it going to be a privately hosted server just for Realm or open to anyone. Either way, if I remember correctly, you need a server with high RAM

Sounds a good mix to me maybe just a couple of small in size additions? 1)carpenters blocks? I like to construct with these 2)quick leaf decay? 3) baubles if your having thaumcraft you sort of need baubles

Only thing I'm sad to not see there is Galacticraft, but I heard it does conflict with some other mods.
ALSO, there's a mod that tells you what each block is and which mod it's from when you look at it. That'd be really handy.
EDIT: And Treecapitator. I'm too excited.

We could always have dynamics and ender io? both have their benefits.
