ros.freeforums.net/thread/504/realm-player-listNumber 25. Changed my name a couple days ago, since Matkip' is dumb. I made my current one a combination of both my old usernames. Chill, man. Put yourself in my shoes, you want to talk to people on server you haven't talked to for over a year now. Some of which never check the forum, and all you're getting is downvotes. (speaking of which, what the heck? I thought I had done everything right on my app..) Certainly not having a go at you personally and actually thought your app was good enough for a yes? Just saying the elite gang of about 20 a couple of years back has dwindled to a point that most don't even play anymore and a new set of people play here which have been voted in by fellow members. That policy works bar 3 idiots in the past year not a bad return for a voting system. Glad you agree with me that some of the members never check the forum (a current gripe of mine!) And as I say im not against you getting in just it should be based on your reasonably good app and I think others once they've read it will vote yes and you'll get in no problem. Thank you, and my apologies. I just keep feeling like I'm being backed in a corner, you know?

At a certain point you just have to say screw the vote and welcome an old friend. Maybe when the server first started, but 90% of the server comprises newer players. So #Vote

When people are voting No on an appication that doesn't have any red flags then I would have to say you're accusing the wrong crowd of being elitist. The point of the voting system isn't to say No to apps that aren't well done. It is to ensure that trolls and griefers aren't sneaking into our community. As you pointed out this process does work well seeing as for the entire duration of the Minecraft server there have only been a few problems. However, it seems that a surprisingly large sample of our current server members have taken it upon themselves to scrutinize every application and vote No if it doesn't meet their own personal preferences. The purpose of the application is to determine trustworthiness and friendliness at the most basic level. The ban and report process is there for individuals who do not display this once they are admitted onto the server. Someone who has proven they are trustworthy should not have to go through a dog and pony show to impress a bunch of people to get accepted into a video game community. Ryaub86 had a very good point with his application experience and I share his thoughts: ros.freeforums.net/thread/726/application. It is an application to be accepted onto a Minecraft server. It's not an interview for an admin position or will he ever be granted mod powers on the server but it seems like everyone wants to interrogate new applicants as if they were going to take over Alex's position. It seems that 80% of this forum's activity involves demanding more information out of applicants. Soon we'll require a photo ID and dental records! The problem has always been that people are voting no and applicants are being denied because the original app doesn't have enough information to suit the interrogation process that we have bred with our 30 question long online personality tests, which is completely unreasonable. Not voting yes is clearly the action to take in this situation and only voting when enough information is presented to make a competent decision. Mat went back through and updated it and now the original people who voted No before he edited it will either never return, or will see that they voted No and then will scrutinize every little detail. Lastly, I was unaware that being a part of a video game community had an expiration date.

Lastly, I was unaware that being a part of a video game community had an expiration date. If that video game community changes immensely over two years then I'd say a renewal is in order.
Also I agree with most of this. I was going to plan out a Realm guide which includes how to handle applications, I'll be adding things like this in. A few people have been mentioning to me about similar issues recently, mostly regarding Ryaub's app actually. For me an application needs to have some character behind it. Obviously there are other factors, but this is a biggie for me personally. I don't really mind what kind of things they're interested in outside of Minecraft, as long as it gets them talking so I can see more personality, even if it's text-based. It's good to get applicants talking anyways! The way people respond to questions is something I enjoy seeing, whether that be on the first or last section on the application form.

Lastly, I was unaware that being a part of a video game community had an expiration date.Im not looking for a fight for an application for a video game! But I would like to respond to your comments:- (Baring in mind I have voted YES to this app) you claim this app has no red lights? I can clearly see 2 and the app isn't that long compared to several others of late 1)my brother invited me to come on and build with him? (how is this possible if his brother doesn't play anymore? a point even Alex pointed out? 2)Unfortunately, I never seem to stick around for more than a couple months, (why would we vote in anyone who after 2 months becomes another statistic on the missing user list?) This isn't about the poor unfortunate who has tried to apply to be a member it is about the voting process itself. Yesterday 3 new people started playing on the server so if the "interrogation process " is so bad then how did these 3 and the others that join daily get through our horrible questioning? I gave pencil some feedback on a negative point in his application but yet he answered it well and got enough votes to get in. We're NOT after Alex's job but I've seen it written that were a democracy and that includes voting? yes votes and NO votes? If Alex wants to take sole charge of who he lets in to HIS server then I welcome that date and this nonsense can stop! But until that day He is the Prime Minister/President and we are the minions who vote whether u need to be here for a certain period of time before u can vote then that can be decided at another time? Lastly as to the point of whom im calling Elitist I refer the accepted members to the orange section where there is a section of Veteran members who at the end is labeled elitist this is the list to which I refer (not a list I made up in my crazy mind by the way) This list contains people I've never heard of and several I've not seen for months?(even some I do know i.e. gemlettuce are off doing there own server?) If this young man is a friend/former member of these people get them to vote yes and this issue is resolved?? Read more: ros.freeforums.net/thread/814/mattkp33s-application?page=2#ixzz3qjs1zQ6g
