I saw the Sports thread and thought this would be a fun little post.
Throughout March, many of you have probably heard me talk over Skype about United States College Basketball and which teams I need to win. I find it extremely interesting the different cultural sports, ideas, words, concepts, etc. that we have mixed on the server and thought that this may be interesting to all the Non-American's who don't know what March Madness is.
March Madness occcurs mid way through March, in which the (64) best College Basketball Teams compete in a single-elimination tournament. Now many would think, Ok soooo every sport is like this once they reach Play-offs, which is true. The fun part of March Madness is that ESPN (United States main Sports channel) encourages everyone to fill out a bracket. My bracket can be seen below. A bracket shows each of the (64) teams on the outside and narrows them down to a championship as teams win. A bracket starts at (64) teams, down to (32) the Sweet (16), Elite (8), Final (4) and finally the Championship. The March Madness Bracket is all about having a perfect bracket and competing with friends and co-workers to see who selected the correct teams and has a better bracket. The odds of choosing a perfect bracket are higher than winning the Lottery, I believe this year it was a 1 in 1.6 Billion chance. The past few years Warren Buffet has promised 1 Billion dollars to anyone with a perfect bracket, which has never happened. The chances are so high because of what are called Upsets, when a Higher Ranked team (a higher seed) beat a Lower Ranked Team (a lower seed). This can be seen on my bracket below, it shows who I chose to advance through each bracket and then crosses out my selection and places the correct selection if I was wrong. The fun in this, is that no one knows. Many spend all season watching these teams, running statistics, watching each player chart, and will still have no idea when a team catches fire and beats a better ranked team.

Let me know if you have questions, I tried to explain it the best I could!
