These are just my thoughts to the post we all received and hope it helps if only a little?
Being the oldest here I try to go out of my way to speak to and help new users when they arrive they then head off into the woods never to be seen again. This repeats itself over and over.....
not going to list the pro's and cons of the server just my views of what I see.
I'll start at the application process,
We always ask the same questions to which generic answers can be given, favourite colour??? who cares or remembers in a few weeks time? Do we ask the applicant what they expect from the server? I tend to vote on age, location (time zones no point me voting yes to people I never meet) and just the basics of how they come across. NOT favourite sport, colour ,and to weather they like pineapple?
Once you arrive,
I still after a year of being on the server I find it very individual(Elitist?) , I have No idea where anyone lives outside spawn, No idea who would like to team up or do a collaboration with me. If I was new I'd hate to feel like this?
Why Stay,
What does this server offer? we have no shops at spawn to spend our hard worked for diamonds at, Just a mass array of buildings some that seem VERY private, some that just confuse, is it a home area or a communal area?? Spawn should be NON residential shops/communal buildings where you don't need help to enjoy it?
Like Alex said new people need help in the beginning and a easy spawn town is a good start?
Are we a vanilla server or a faction server?? Nations is a great idea and I love it but all new people need access to it (And an explanation of what it is?) either setting up there own or being let into already set up nation?
Who To Turn To.
Where do people turn to for help? I know Alex pays for the server and for that were all grateful, but who to ask for help? No idea I just stick it on the forum and hope I get an answer new people I think wont do this and just give up?
Finally Honest.....
I just feel the server needs to have selling points I.e. nations, a much clearer application process, A reason to stay? cause without one I'd probably leave in week 1 too!!!
I know these are just my views and some may upset I don't meant offence by this just hope it can maybe in a small way help? ..................

My favorite part of the game (the game itself, so besides communicating and running around with others) is to build. If you've seen the "what have you done on the server" thread you'll see I am building a castle. When I start building I always get a TON of ideas of what it should look like, so having someone running around "ruining"(idk what other word to use, maybe "change") my plans is a pain in the arse to me 
Why cant I see any threads here on the forums btw?
