Hi everyone
My name is Alex Pretorius. I'm a 15 year old boy from the southern tip of Africa also known as South Africa. The only thing here that distinguishes us from the rest of the African countries is probably our technology and our internet access. I've just typed a 700 word essay to introduce myself to all of you, but as soon as I clicked the "Create Thread" button the page became invalid and all that I had type just disappeared :/ but nevertheless...here is an introduction to the boy behind the screen.
My gaming career, started a while back. My grandad initially introduced me to Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2. This was a 3rd person strategy game and at age 8 it really got me thinking. I had also been playing quite a lot of chess. After some time, I tried Need for Speed: Carbon. That was my introduction to anything that felt first person related. When I was 11 my grandad introduced me to Call of Duty: World at War. The campaign fascinated me and I much enjoyed the action. After World at War, Modern Warfare came into play, and with it, multiplayer. I remember the year I started playing CoD 4: Modern Warfare. It was that December that my uncle came to visit me. When he came, he introduced me to Minecraft. At first I was astounded by the fact that you were in a world where you could build and place blocks wherever you please, and the unlimited possibilities of what could be built came to mind. Little did I know that those possibilities are further yet even more limitless as your mind is truly the engineer and commander what what amazing things can be built in the game. I had played a lot of minecraft survival then and soon killing the Ender Dragon wasn't such an amazing achievement anymore. So YouTube introduced me to hunger games. I played a tonne of that... and soon, after trying many other puzzle maps, custom maps, adventure maps and parkour maps, I started making my own maps and minigames...all in Vanilla Minecraft of course. I made use of command blocks and studying the very basic programming language soon became very interesting.
During this time YouTube introduced Call of Duty: Black Ops II to me. I've been playing that ever since, and now whenever I play I'm normally at the top of the lobby leaderboard with a K/D (kill to death ratio) of about 3. Last year I played Advanced Warfare with my clan in a local competition and we performed really well! Unfortunately our clan broke apart because of countless disagreements. So soon I was back to Minecraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Minecraft has never phased out of my life, but unfortunately there have been times I don't play it as much. I think that's mostly because of the fact that I have completed everything in single player. What I hunger for now is to be able to build some really cool and helpful things with other players and having events and fun contests with them. Joining this server would mean so much to me, let me elaborate:
I really enjoy interacting with other people and getting to know them in almost any environment, but with Minecraft things come even more naturally, and when placed in a mature environment with other players that actually care about the game there is even more great things to be expected. I would love to collaborate with the rest of all the players on the server and be able to come home after school each day and be able to hop onto the server and carry on where I'd left off the previous day. I would much enjoy building big structures that stun the new players on the server. At the same time building mob farms and other useful machines on the server would be great. The organising of other events could be a lot of fun since everyone on the server is dedicated to the game and want to have fun on there. When no one else is online I will probably just carry on chopping on my own to get resources for the things I need to build, and whenever someone comes on I'll be sure to lend them a helping hand or donate the resources they need in order to build the stuff that they want to.
Please consider taking a look at the application I've submitted, each and every one of your votes, whether it rejects or accepts me will be an appreciated reflection. Thanks for your time guys! Have a good day
Kind Regards
