I'd be in favour of a new map believe it or not - feel like I've stalled a bit on this one. A map with more gameplay elements would be a bit more interesting than a pure survival one.

New map for me too. This one was spoils right at the beginning with the mad scientists or green squad putting everything on a plate for us and exploring all the good biomes within days of it starting? We're too far apart from each other and there is no interaction (the whole point of a server?) with each other? The only build I'll miss is the nether hub which forever will be a masterpiece. The next map needs cohesion to bring it all together weather that be towns? Or a BETTER version of quadrants? Or any reason to interact with other? Whilst we decide were all in limbo waiting to see what the outcome is and I think an early call is better than dragging it out till next year?

I think Nations could work as a revamp of Quadrants. I was bored at work so I took the liberty:
NATIONS mkII
BASICS - Map split in 4 at 0,0 - Each section is one nation - Players must pick a nation first time they log in (assign colour) - Nations must design their own flag, with the main solid colour being the same as their name colour - No Mining Fatigue - nation's members are responsible for defending it - Nations can collaborate on defences such as a wall or outposts, as well as on major world events (Ender Dragon, Wither Fight, spawn town building) - Travel between nations is unrestricted using a Passport system, or if the visitors are accompanied. - Trade between nations is unrestricted, and a central 'spawn town' must be constructed in collaboration with all nations.
PASSPORTS and VISITING OTHER NATIONS - Must be issued by home nation - Must be used to activate a 'Passport Control' gate (which I know how to build) - Can be kept and re-used, but can be revoked. - No resources exclusive to the nation can be mined/collected without permission. Exclusive resources such as mesa biome stuff, jungle biome stuff, ice spikes etc. can be traded.
HOSTILITY - Nations can raid each other and start wars if they wish. If this happens then the only restrictions will be on spawn locations (attackers cannot respawn in the defenders' nation, defenders must have a cooling off period before returning to combat. - ABSOLUTELY NO GRIEFING IS ALLOWED. - Walls guarding borders are exempt from griefing rules on the agreement that the attackers must repair any damage they do.
OTHER NOTES - Stick a border on - Limit redstone builds at spawn (in particular) to keep lag down - Don't be a dick

I'd rather simply have a small-ish border to start with which will then expand very slowly over-time allowing for new areas to be discovered. Also means that the intial few months of the server, everyone would be closer together, more like a community

I'm game for a new map, I've lost all inspiration on my current build and have no desire to get it back...
Although I'm up for spicing up the gameplay somewhat, I hate the idea of people raiding one another. I've never felt the need to hide any of my things on this current map and I have yet to be disappointed. I feel it would ruin the enjoyment of the server if I were to log on and find stuff missing - be it aloud or not. I would love something to be implemented which meant collaborating with others more, be it adding a border for a while or those competitions I saw you mention.
Just another opinion for you to add to all the others you're getting xD

I do not want a new map. We do not NEED a new map. I have a few reasons why.
1) I still have a list of things I have planned for current map. Theres also is countless things I could plan if I run out of planned things.
2) My idea is best of both sides of the keep map/new map discussion. It ensures those who want a new map can have the feeling of a new map. It also allows those like myself to continue with their current map stuff. Moving the spawn will solve most issues between the 2 groups. Somehow we would have to get quadrants setup like how Nabs suggested where those who don't want to play quadrants wont have to.
Those who claim most went out to build by themselves I don't believe you. At first most built by spawn then as time progressed spawn was cleaned up and shops and community builds started moving in to replace houses. Sure after a bit people needed to move to a new location away from spawn to store their personal belongings but for the most part spawn seemed pretty community oriented. Quite a few people did community things. I felt like this map was becoming our best map in terms of community related content. I have the feeling that a small very vocal group of people are the ones begging for a map reset not sure if this is true but it sure seems like it. When I first heard about the new map talk I noticed fairly quickly people said things like "We're too far apart from each other and there is no interaction with each other?" The one statement said almost every new map discussion (or a variant of it). We have tried nations, we have tried quadrants yet those may have worked for a short time while the hype was still going but eventually they failed. I remembered Alex and remembered stories of Jack doing special events like fishing and horse races on the main server. I thought why not build a mini-game area so people can build games and what not for events like have been done in the past but guess it didn't really work out as planned cause apparently having a map reset is the solution and not a bunch of community builds. Surely a bunch of community builds will help. It may not be long term solution but It'll sure help and yet its the one thing many people don't build. Except for maybe a shop. Everyone thinks the solution to improve community interaction is a new map but we have tried and failed every map reset so I don't think a map reset is the solution to make the server more community oriented. The thing is many people are thinking like, "What can I build that I want for my base/build/etc.?" Instead people should be thinking like, "What can I and/or others build that will incorporate others or benefit the server in someway that myself and or others would enjoy building?" Basically what Im trying to say is think about and/or with others instead of thinking about yourself.
If being more community oriented on a new map is the main goal, then to become more community oriented is not a matter of a map reset cause the map reset, as stated earlier, is not the solution it may be a temporary fix at most but not the permanent solution. To become community oriented on a new map 9what I feel like could potentially be the best long term solution) we first need to become community oriented on the current map then when a new map is made we will already know how to be community oriented and wont have the same problems as previous maps.
I hope I explained what I wanted to say in an okay way.
thank you

I think I'm ok either way, map reset or not. The only thing is though, I'm hoping we can stick with this current map until the Christmas build comp is done, only because it would suck giant warty toad ass to have to start from scratch and worry about having enough resources and required blocks for a fancy build. The other thing to consider is, once those of us who currently have big, long term plans heard about the map change, I for one stopped building all together because I couldn't see the point if the map was going to change. My secret server benefiting projects due for unveiling at Christmas time kinda seemed pointless BUT The Christmas comp will give me something to invest my time into while waiting for the map change YAAAAY I'm undecided about the nations/quadrants idea; I haven't played it before so I don't have any experience to call upon. I guess I'm up to try it but to be honest, the only aspects i enjoy about MC are getting to know people and building stuff. I'm not much into fighting, though I can single-handedly fend off Nabs and Bank at the same time with my amazing bow skills. But the idea of constantly worrying about attacks from rival nations doesn't really tickle my fancies. Still, I'm up for trying it out. Finally, I'm hoping that those excited by the map reset aren't the type to log in for a month, build a base, then lose all interest in the game and become inactive again. There seem to be some very valid reasons for a map reset but I think it would be disappointing to change the map, and after a month or two, find that the only ones playing are the same ones playing regularly atm. To me that would seem to defeat the purpose of a map reset if one of its main functions is to get people excited about playing again. I'm pretty excited about the future of the server and I also think change every now and then is healthy. I'll miss the nether hub, Mort's castle, the gold and the guaradian farms, and all my sponges i was hoping to sell to Eric at a super ultra premium price. Never the less, i love this server community and I'm in for the long haul #FayaMooForQueenOfTheUnicorns <3 from me xo

Basically what Im trying to say is think about and/or with others instead of thinking about yourself. In response to Jman's comments seeing that you've quoted me directly in the Blue part of your speech I gather that im the one your referring to in the quote" I have the feeling that a small very vocal group of people are the ones begging for a map reset not sure if this is true but it sure seems like it?" Let me put a few things straight. 1) The day I beg for anything In a computer game is the day I leave move on and find myself another hobby! 2) Perhaps the fact im probably 1 of only 4-5 people who voice there opinion on the forum probably makes anyone making a point a member of a small group?? 3) READ the other comments I firstly said I wasn't bothered either way about changing maps and upon reflection I later said I think its for the best that we do. 4) READ the comments again because apart from you only Nabbs doesn't want quadrants in next map your the only one who is desperate to keep the current map (perhaps your the small very vocal person?) 5) My questions/discussion about a map change all comes from an in game chat with Jack (the man who will be paying the bills so in my opinion can do whatever he pleases with the server??) where he told several of us that there would be a map change in January and him and his admins where discussing the best way to do this. So I am not some revolutionary leader who is plotting a new map to be forced on all??? 6) I've already stated that I do not like the quadrants idea again but am game to try anything if it is asked!
In response to Faya's comment about people only wanting a new map to play for a month then vanish back to there other games. I totally agree with this view I remember spring after quadrants sunk like the titanic! the new map started 30 people show up on day 1 then a few weeks later I was the only one playing daily for nearly 2 months and if that were to happen again then there really isn't a point to changing maps? If we are changing maps do it for a reason implicate some new ideas, shorten the borders, anything that will keep people active on the server?
Finally im not going to post in this section anymore as its all getting very childish and ill let whatever happens happen
IDEA:- Simple poll NEW MAP? YES/NO

I'm sorry it sounded like I was posting "Digging's Comment". That was not my intent. I was just mentioning that variants of that statement are said just about every map reset talk and that reseting the map ( which is probably happening whether us long term map people like it or not) is not a permanent fix for this issue. I did not intend to sound like I was including you in the group that wants a new map. I'm not the best explainer of things and I think Faya did a better job at explaining things. I never said there was just one vocal group and I would agree Im pretty vocal. I'm sorry for anything else I need to apologize for.

Will there be a world download when a reset happens? I think that could be something cool to do for everyone.
